The Ying Yang Twins—made up of D-Roc and Kaine—burst onto the scene in 1996 with their infectious single "Whistle While You Twurk." The track received heavy rotation on urban and pop radio, climbing to #17 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Their popularity soared further as they hit the road with Juz tha King, Kat Nu, and Demo Dil on the King Me tour. That same year, they released their full-length debut album, Thug Walkin', setting the stage for their rise in Southern hip-hop.

After catching the attention of A&R Bryan Leach—who had just discovered fellow Atlanta hip-hop star Lil Jon—negotiations began to sign the Ying Yang Twins to TVT Records. However, extended talks pushed the deal past the release window for their next album, Alley: The Return of the Ying Yang Twins, which dropped in 2002 on Koch Records. The album gained a strong following among Southern hip-hop fans. That same year, the Twins featured on the double-platinum Kings of Crunk album by Lil Jon & the Eastside Boyz, with the single "Get Low" becoming an iconic club anthem. With only a one-album deal at Koch, the duo was finally free to join TVT, who had already impressed them through their collaborations with Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz.

Their TVT debut, Me & My Brother, earned platinum status on April 12, 2005, and produced several major hits—including "Whats Happnin!", "Naggin'", and the chart-topping Lil Jon collaboration "Salt Shaker." The same year, the Twins made a crossover appearance on Britney Spears' In the Zone album with the track "I Got That (Boom Boom)," even joining her on a televised special. In 2004, they followed up with My Brother & Me, a remix album featuring a bonus DVD of their music videos.

Their next project, U.S.A. (United State of Atlanta), dropped in summer 2005, with singles like "Wait (The Whisper Song)," "Badd," and "Shake" dominating charts and radio airwaves. Later that year, they released U.S.A. (Still United), a compilation of outtakes, remixes, and collaborations—again bundled with a DVD of exclusive videos and behind-the-scenes footage. U.S.A. (United State of Atlanta) earned platinum certification on August 25, 2005, cementing their status as Southern rap mainstays.

The Twins' fifth studio album, Chemically Imbalanced, arrived in November 2006 and showcased collaborations with top producers Wyclef Jean, Keith Duplessis, and longtime partner Mr. Collipark. Its standout singles included the Hall & Oates-sampling "Dangerous"—featuring Wyclef Jean—and club favorite "Jigglin'." In 2008, the duo dropped the mixtape The Official Work and the promo single "Drop." The following year, they released Ying Yang Forever through Deep Records and embarked on the nationwide Ying Yang Forever Tour.

Their energetic anthem "Halftime (Stand Up and Get Crunk)" has become a staple at NFL stadiums, most notably serving as the unofficial soundtrack for the New Orleans Saints’ Super Bowl-winning season. The Twins performed the song live at the team's victory parade, further cementing its legacy. "Halftime" has also been featured in video games like NFL Street 2 and Madden NFL 11, and regularly pumps up the crowd at San Antonio Spurs home games during opening tip-off.

Today, the Ying Yang Twins continue to electrify sold-out audiences worldwide with their high-energy performances and enduring hits.
